Peaches for Jill's, Karissa's and Mom's sake.

Now that I finally have something interesting to say I have decided to update my blog.
This last weekend my mother-in-law, Liz, and I canned 212lbs of peaches! My body was not quite sure if it had had a break or not. We spent most of Saturday just trying to finding the peaches. The thriftiness in us both was rewarded when we made it to a little fruit stand in Vernon. We bought 212lbs of peaches for $0.65/lb! The man there was so happy that we were taking all of this fruit that he kept giving us other things as well. By the time we left the stand we had our peaches, dill weed, corn on the cob (we only bought 12 but left with 16), and a bucket of fresh garlic. Liz was so happy. I have never met anyone as miserly as this woman! I hope I can say that because she so proudly admits it herself. By the time we got back to Pritchard we had added a huge bag of sugar, to our already full car, as well as several bottles of vinager. Thanks to Grammy McKnight we also came home with FREE canning jars and a FREE canner. Did I tell you we were stingy? We didn't start canning until 6:30 or 7:00 that night. Although we only worked for a few hours, we had already emptied four of the eleven flats of peaches. By the time we finished on Sunday afternoon we had 117 jars of peaches!
